Rabbi Nissim Elmaliah, a Sephardi Israeli rabbi, received his semicha in 1994 from SSC. He was sent by Rabbi Kassin to be the rabbi in one of Las Vegas’s synagogues, Ohr Bamidmar, to help establish more synagogues there, and he was successful! There are over a dozen synagogues now in Las Vegas. Today, Rabbi Elmaliah is the rabbi of the Israeli Airport Authority. They have eight synagogues throughout Israel’s airports, and they provide religious needs to passengers which includes shiurim and kashrut supervision.
