Receiving his rabbinical ordination from the SSC in 1998, Rabbi Izak Peres is one of five rabbis who sit on the Bet Din. He also supervises all of the kosher slaughtering in Turkey. A teacher at the Ulus School, Peres believes his family arrived in what is now Turkey in 1492. With at least 50 boys a year being bar mitzvahed in Istanbul, he teaches an entire curriculum of Torah, Gemara, Jewish history and Halakha.
Peres is the rabbi of Tifereth Israel on the European side in the Isteeniya community, living there each Shabbat and on holidays with his family.
