Nir Shalom

Rabbi Nir Shalom, rabbi of the Babylonian Jewish Center, completed his studies at the Abe and Geri Cohen Rabbinical School in 1999. The Israeli-born rabbi is of Iraqi descent. He served in the Israeli Army and attended schools in Israel, graduating from Bar llan.

Rabbi Shalom shared with Rabbi Kassin his pride that the community is increasing their knowledge of Judaism. When he arrived in the community 13 years ago, only two families sold their hametz before Pesach, whereas now more than half the families participate.

Nir Shalom was a teacher at Magen David HS in Brooklyn. He graduated from th SSC in 1998.
