Jews trace their ancestry in Belgium back to the 13th century. Today, the Belgian Jewish population is estimated at approximately 40.000 people, mostly divided between Brussels and Antwerp. Those two cities are the main centres of Belgian Jewry. Significant smaller communities are located in Arlon, Liège, Mons, Charleroi, Waterloo, Knokke, Oostende and Ghent.
