Born in Morocco, Rabbi Yaakov Peretz studied for 20 years at the Ponevetz Yeshiva in Bnei Brak. He was ordained under the tutelage of Rabbi Kahanemen. He currently serves as the Chief Rabbi of the Neve Yaakov district of Jerusalem, as well as spiritual leader in Chevron. He has written twelve sefarim on Halacha and Mussar.
Rabbi Peretz recently stepped back from his duties as the SSC Rosh Yeshiva. He is the he ordaining Rabbi of the Jerusalem Rabbinical Academy. Under his careful guidance and mentoring, over 250 Rabbis have been ordained and sent out by the Rosh Yeshiva in the last 35 years. He lectures frequently in Jerusalem, primarily on Talmud Halacha and Jewish ethics.
Rabbi Peretz is a meticulous person driven by the principles of the Torah and a great believer in the love of humanity and “Ahavat Yisrael.” These are but a few of his great qualities. He personally tests every rabbinic student frequently to ensure his advancement.
